Search for Duane Miles

Today the team sent HRD K-9 unit Kodiak and his handler, Diane, along with two flankers that are both Ropes Technicians and EMTs to help aid in the search for Duane Miles. Duane is a 78 year old man who was reported missing on October 19. Today was the 10th day of his search. He is described an as extremely fit person who goes off trail to hunt for elk sheds, and is capable of being out for up to 4 days. He grew up in the Olympic Peninsula, and the area last seen is extremely steep with 150’ sheer drops. Besides the K9 teams from CCSOSAR and Kitsap SAR, the other teams searching were Mountain Rescue teams from Olympic MR, Hood River Cragrats, Portland MR, Bellingham MR and Tacoma MR. The search was organized by the National Park Service (OLYM, NOCA, MORA, LEWI).
