First Flight for Drone Team

The CCSOSAR Drone Team flew their DJI Matrice 210 during today’s training. Each of the four Part 107 licensed pilots got to fly multiple times, finding team mates out in the field. The Matrice 210 is equipped with an infra red camera and an 80x zoom camera.

SAR Volunteers help transport Critical Care staff during Inclement Weather

Since the snow storm began last week, 25 members of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team were tasked through the Sheriff’s Department and CRESA 911 to provide transportation services to the staff at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital, the Vancouver VA Hospital, and CRESA. Missions were run 24 hours a day and many trips occured between midnight and 7am. The team transported 25 people on Friday, 55 on Saturday, 60 on Sunday, and 62 on Monday and Tuesday for a total of 202 missions. CCSOSAR members covered about 4,100 miles in extremely hazardous road and driving conditions. Snow levels exceeded a foot in some areas, and transport services reached as far away as Kelso, Longview, Southern Portland and Washougal.
