You know, it’s pretty easy to follow some trails and put up your shelter when the sun is out all nice and bright. But what happens when the sun goes down? As one of the many SAR sayings goes, “If you can’t do it at night, you can’t do it all.”
So CCSO-SAR does it at night. This month’s training had several objectives. First, work a search grid in the dark. Second, bunker down for the rest of the night with a shelter and a fire. All three of these tasks are relatively easy during the day but at night it’s a whole new beast.
