Today the team met at a local farm in Ridgefield to practice Patient Assessment and Patient Packaging. Members also learned how to build a survival shelter, and everyone built their own fires using magnesium strikers. We also had a few potential members from the new Bravo class join the training.
CCSOSAR has three current SAR K9s… Willow who specializes in trailing, and 2 HRD (Human Remains Detection) dogs… K9 Kodiak and K9 Druid.
The team had an All-squad training today, where ground searchers worked together with the Mounted Rescue horse team, UAS Drone team, K-9 teams, Technical Ropes rescue, and the Underwater Recovery dive team. Even though the weather turned extremely windy with heavy rain, we can’t always choose the weather conditions when a callout happens, so even if it’s raining, we are training!
