Lost Mushroom Picker, Found!

Four different searches went out for Jung VanAtta, who went missing while picking mushrooms on October 12. Members from Clark County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team went out on Saturday night to search for her. Multiple teams including Southwest Washington, Wind River, Volcano Rescue, and 304th Pararescue returned for the next three days to continue the search, encouraged by items that were found which were confirmed to belong to her.
On Tuesday afternoon, Jung was found in the Woodward Creek drainage… a good thing as the weather changed drastically that night. Upon nearing base, she revealed it was her 75th birthday… everyone loudly and enthusiastically sang “Happy Birthday “ to her.

So that others may live…

Last night, multiple search and rescue teams helped get an injured hiker safely off a trail in Skamania county to an awaiting ambulance. These Search and Rescue members hiked 9 miles and didn’t end till 3:30 in the morning. SAR team members are not paid to do this … they are all volunteers that train countless hours so they can help the communities they love. If you would like to help support our team, please consider a donation… there are many ways to support, from Amazon smile to Fred Meyer community rewards.
