PDX Multi Agency MCI Drill

CCSOSAR members volunteered for an MCI drill (Mass Casualty Incident) called Columbia Splash, which was organized by the Port of Portland. In the exercise, passengers from an airplane crash needed to be rescued and triaged. Agencies involved included Portland Airport Fire & Rescue, Portland Fire, Multnomah County Sheriff River Patrol, AMR, Vancouver Fire, and Clark County Sheriff.

Spring Training

In todays team training, operations broke the new trailer in as command center. The Mounted Rescue and the UAS drone teams were both used to help the ground team find their subject, which later turned into two subjects when he told the team that his friend was missing as well. The training finished right before the afternoon storm hit.

New Mobile Command Center

CCSOSAR is excited to introduce our new command trailer, which was provided by a generous local donor. The trailer will provide the team with a state-of-the-art mobile SAR command base for years to come. The 20-foot trailer has a built-in generator, heating, air conditioning, pop out canopy and a 60-foot antenna boom, and will be outfitted with 2-3 workstations for planning and operation. Most importantly the trailer is equipped with the new Cobham Explorer 8120 satellite receiver so that we can receive high speed internet and phone service anywhere in the world. The new CCSOSAR Command Center is scheduled to be available for service by mid-April of this year.
