SANTA’S POSSE 2022

The team is proud to help in yet another year of the annual Santa’s Posse toy and food delivery event, organized by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the local community and businesses. This year, the delivery of food, gifts and personal care items included 1500 families… Christmas was provided to more than 4800 children in the Clark County area. The CCSOSAR team helps every year with directing traffic, and loading the cars with all the wonderful donations so that volunteer drivers within the community can deliver the items to the families. Nakia Fire Evacuations

About 30 members from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team helped with Level 3 evacuations in the Clark County area today. Homes in the Red Zone were checked to ensure evacuation, and to confirm that if anyone was still there, knew there was an evacuation going on.
The Nakia Creek Fire, located 9 miles northeast of Camas WA in Clark County, and is burning in the Larch Block of the Yacolt Burn State Forest.

Nakia Creek Fire Evacuation Notice from CRESA:
Fire Activty has increase due to the severe weather conditions we have had over the past 2 days.
Evacaution Notices have been sent out and increased on the Nakia Creek Fire. This is in the area of the L1500 and L1560 roads off of Jones Creek Road.
Attached you will find a new map with roads identified for evacuation.

Anyone now within the red zone of the fire are in a Level 3 GO NOW Evacuation Notice
Anyone with yellow zone of the fire are now in a Level 2 BE SET Evacuation Notice
Anyone with green zone of the fire of the fire are now in a Level 1 BE READY Evacuation Notice
Please Understand that this is a very dynamic situation and if you are anywhere near this area, you should take precautions to evacuate. Additional maps and evacuations may still to come…

Drone and Ropes Team Dual Training

The Drone Team worked with the Technical Ropes team to help set up a highline. Using a payload carrier on the drone, a light cord was carried across the canyon to the other side, to which a rescue rope was attached and pulled over, allowing the system to be rigged across the canyon. The team’s drone has many features which help the SAR community with searches, such as a Thermal camera, 180x zoom, a payload carrier, and a spot light. CCSOSAR also has 7 certified pilots.
